Yes, it’s that time again – the annual ten bike test-fest that is Sportsbike of the Year. Without any doubt at all it was the most hard-fought and close shootout in the test’s nine-year history, too.

2011 KTM RC8 R Launch – Valencia

Hi folks, I’ve just got back from Valencia where we had the opportunity to ride KTM’s new RC8 R, the only RC8 in their range from 2011. Despite it pissing down in the morning, the track did manage to dry for the last two hours so we did manage to give the new Austrian a good thrashing, keeping away from stubborn puddles that refused to vanish, of course!

You can read about the bike in the next issue, but we can say it’s an impressive update in all sorts of ways, and still the Daddy of V-twins on track with barely an electronic aid in sight, for a lot less outlay than its main Ducati rival.
