Rossi returns

Six weeks ago, Valentino Rossi was in a world of pain, writhing in a Tuscan gravel trap with a bone poking out of his skin. We dare say he’s still in pain, but rather than being stuck at home watching an Italian version of Deal or No Deal, he’s back on his Yamaha M1 and back up to race pace.

Yup, we couldn’t quite believe it ourselves, but Rossi completed the German GP’s first practice and ended up 7th in the standings, 0.723 seconds off poleman Dani Pedrosa. The times for his 29 laps are below, and it’s an amazing thing to behold. Valentino Rossi, we salute you!
