KTM Duke 125 Launch

KTM has a new kid on the block – the Duke 125. It is the Austrian firm’s first attempt in the learner legal market, but like with other market entries, you really wouldn’t know it.

KTM has designed the Duke from scratch, identifying the youth market as massively untapped, and as such has made a damned fine looking machine. It’s a naked, rather than a sports or supermoto bike, and as such it’s super-simple to ride – and looks fantastic.

But at the end of the day, it;s a 125, so you’re going to struggle to get anything more than 70mph from the 14bhp motor. KTM has promised the Austrian government that it won’t make any tuning parts for it – boo!

But chassis-wise the Duke is excellent – a decent bit of kit. It uses WP suspension, Brembo derivative brakes, had a really smart dash and obviously looks da bomb. We took it round a go-kart track all afternoon and it handles pretty well. Kidz will learn things from this; cornering, stunts, slipstreaming…
