2012 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade First Shots

The internet is now awash with shots from what looks to be a dealer launch of the new 2012 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. Providing it really is the genuine article, there are some interesting lessons from the images, and video.

Firstly, there’s a very obvious lack of visible electronics. The bike doesn’t even appear to have ABS, which suggests that there will continue to be a ‘base’ model where you have the choice to reject ABS. There will certainly be an ABS / C-ABS version too, and it’s not inconceivable that this could also feature more advanced traction control functionality, too.

Showa’s Big Piston Fork is clear to see, as is a revision to the rear shock, and a host of subtle but effective styling updates to the fairings and headlamps.

The other notable difference is the stunning new wheels, which are very redolent of the BMW S 1000 RR’s, and will certainly have been designed to be lighter than the 2011 model’s. From the rider’s view, the new all-LCD dash is also a major update, and looks full-factory by comparison with the dated current offering. We’ll bring you official pictures as soon as we have them.
