Cal Crutchlow Images 2012

Thanks to a variety of circumstances, not least his talent, 2012 was a pretty good year for Cal Crutchlow. It had to be really, because berths in MotoGP are hard to get in the first place – and they’re even harder to keep.

The season kicked off well enough, and the theme of Crutchlow battling his top team-mate, Andrea Dovizioso, remained constant throughout the year. The Italian may have edged ahead of Cal by the middle of the year, but Cal put in enough performances of his own to merit his courting the full factory teams for rides.

Number One: A few crashes and some bad luck put pay to any meaningful challenge to his team-mate, but at least the podium cherry was well and truly popped.

Number Three: Cal didn’t really need the braking upgrade that was so fussed over during the season. He just needed time on the bike and a stack full of belief.

Number Four: Another season with Tech3 won’t be the worst thing that will happen to Cal. Consistency wins titles – and factory rides…

Number Five: So looking back, it’s been a good year. Crutchlow has exploited a weak-ish season well, and will have a lot of good memories to look back on before taking on the 2013 challenge. Good luck, Cal!
