WSB 2017 – Laguna Seca – Kel Edge Gallery

Some cracking snaps once again, this time covering last weekend’s Laguna Seca WSB round, by the man that is Kel…

We weren’t sure what to expect from Laguna Seca, given Chaz Davies’ back-breaking crash at Misano when he was accidentally run over by Jonny Rea. Yet his performance in the US of A just three weeks later was nothing short of astonishing – the man’s a machine!

Of course, Jonny made hay in race 2 while Davies struggled to get through the pack, laying down a punishing pace so that neither Davies nor Tom Sykes could match or catch him. It’s a real pity, the points tally doesn’t tell the entire story of the season, nor how close much of the racing has been – but Jonny has one hand firmly on the title regardless…

Davies quickly dispatched Rea…
… and set to hunting down Sykes!
An awesome move by Chaz on Sykes also allowed Rea through…
Yamaha had a proper nightmare of a meeting – a real downer after Michael van der Mark’s race-winning pace at the previous race…
Jake Gagne, wildcarding on Nicky Hayden’s old bike, did pretty well for a first attempt at WSB!
One very happy chappy – win number 4 in 2017!
Fores was on the front row for Race 2…
… while Marco Melandri was on ‘pole’…
Marco fell back quickly though, the two Kawasakis making short work of him…
… first Sykes, then Rea shortly after…
One lap later…
… the roles were reversed!
A poor start from Chaz saw him struggle to get through the field, and past a very rapid Xavi Fores!
Stefan Bradl (6), meanwhile, is apparently not a favourite person in the Ten Kate garage right now…
But day 2 belonged to Mr J Rea!
… and he enjoyed himself a lot!
