HJC Helmets, via their spiffing Oxford Products partner here in the UK, has released the latest version of their IS MAX II helmet, the ‘Dova’, a flip-front lid starting at an RRP of £179.99!
It’s a flip-front made from an advanced polycarbonate-composite shell, with an adjustable polycarbonate chin-bar and has, yes, a drop-down internal dark visor which has three-stages of dropping down’ness!

The main, ‘quick-slide’ visor is Pinlock ready and features an anti-scratch coating. The main shell is fully vented or, of course, you could just lift the front and get a nice icy blast this time of year! The fit is alleged to be far superior to the previous iteration following following some nifty advanced CAD technology work during development.
It comes in mostly black, with blue, red or pink highlights – pink comes in sizes XS – M, while the others are available in sizes XS – 2XL. It’s a decent looking lid for a sub-£200 affair, and like many others HJC’s ‘cheaper’ lids take big strides forwards every single year in terms of quality, so it’s a viable option for those whose pockets aren’t as deep as others!
