Ducati UK wants sweet 916s for its NEC show stand, to celebrate 25 years since the legendary machine was launched
Got a swish old 916, 996, or 998? Fancy showing it off? Then you need to give the good folks at Ducati UK a shout. Because the Bolognan massive is having a bit of a celebration of the 916 at this year’s Motorcycle Live show, and wants a load of bikes along.
As any fule nos, the 916 was launched back in 1994, and pretty much knocked all our socks off. We’d just been seduced by the performance of the CBR900RR FireBlade and wowed by the sheer tech-porn of Honda’s magnum opus, the NR750. But the Ducati was something else. It gave the best of both of those – superb performance, and advanced tech, but in the most beautiful package we’d ever seen, thanks to Massimo Tamburini’s inspired design. And it was fairly affordable, certainly compared with the megabucks NR750.

The fact it then went on to win just about every superbike championship it entered sealed the deal. This is a genuine legend, and at the top of most folks’ lists of the the most important bikes ever. So – its 25th anniversary is more than worthy of special attention. Ducati’s organising a special display at the NEC in Birmingham, featuring both the bikes and other pictures, memorabilia and owner’s experiences.
Ducati UK is inviting all Ducati 916 owners to be involved in a dedicated 916 display at Motorcycle Live from 16-24 November. Ducati is looking for 12 of the finest examples of the 916 including 996 and 998 models to display on a dedicated stand to honour this historic and ground-breaking motorcycle.
Those 916,996 and 998 owners would like their bike to be considered, should visit https://www.ducatiukevents.co.uk/916mcnshow.htm, fill out the provided form, and upload pics of your pride and joy.
Those selected will be supplied with a pair of tickets to Motorcycle Live, a pair of tickets for the Ducati VIP evening, a unique bike specification print for your motorcycle and a limited edition 916 gift.
Ducati UK is also looking for the public’s Ducati 916 memories – and a collage of 916 photos will accompany the motorcycle display on the stand. You can do this by sharing your photo on this web site: https://www.ducatiukevents.co.uk/916memories.htm. Send in your photos of 916 moments, your bike, or memories the 916 has made for you. Those who have a photo chosen will be emailed and if they visit the Motorcycle Live show with their email they can collect a 916 gift from the Ducati 916 stand and sign their photo on the wall.
