This year’s World GP Bike Legends (WGPBL) event is just around the corner, and for those in the UK, this means both in terms of dates and literally, too, as it’s being held at Silverstone once again during the annual Silverstone Classic meeting.
Multiple GP champion Phil Read will be joining the fray, as will ex triple-BSB champ’ and GP rostrum finisher, Niall Mackenzie. The pair will be riding some of the old classic GP bikes, of the two and four-stroke variety, before jumping on brand spanking new Yamaha R1s (all done up in classic period livery), to race against each other, former rivals, and many others.
Also there will be WGPBL stalwarts Wayne Gardner, Freddie Spencer, Steve Parrish and anay, many more, all lining up to both wow the crowds, and prove there’s some life left in these old legends. As if just seeing and hearing the bikes wasn’t enough already!
