Thunderstorms and heavy rain halted the final day of testing at Sepang, but once again, it was Casey Stoner who set the pace. Stoner, who was sampling the new spec Bridgestone rubber for the first time in Malaysia, set his fastest time of 1:59.6 after just three laps.
Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo ended the first day of testing at Sepang on top of the time sheets with a 2:01.6, just ahead of Dani Pedrosa who was 0.346 slower than his Spanish buddy. A kid on the way hasn’t slowed Casey Stoner. After miserable weekend up until the race that saw the toys firmly out of the pram with set-up trouble, Stoner trounced the rest of the field at Brno.
“Based on the estimate dose it can be said by no doubt that the radiation risk during the race event is negligible.” So says the official FIM report. So, will the ‘stars’ man up and get on with it – or will we see a mass boycott of the round by the riders? Time will tell.
